The American Harp Society, Inc. 2019 Camp Innovation will be held June 16-22, 2019 at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, held in conjunction with the 2019 Summer Institute and National Competition. This one-week residential camp is open to lever and pedal harpists ages 12-17 and offers instruction from world-class faculty and access to a week of educational and musical programming, while staying on the beautiful UNCSA campus.

Camp Program Opportunities

  • Masterclasses. Led by Maria Luisa Rayan and Elisabeth Remy Johnson exclusively for the camp students on Monday and Tuesday.

  • Workshop. Led by Maria Luisa Rayan and Elisabeth Remy Johnson exclusively for camp students on Sunday evening.

  • Attend the AHS National Competition. Camp students will have the opportunity to watch competition divisions.

  • Attend the AHS Summer Institute. Camp students will by fully immersed in all Institute programming, including workshops, masterclasses, world-premiere performances, and concerts.

  • Private Lessons. Campers will have the option to schedule a private harp lesson with one of the camp faculty for an additional fee.

  • Performance. Campers will perform as a harp ensemble on the AHS Summer Institute 'The Next Generation' concert on Saturday, June 22, 2019. They will perform a world-premiere performance of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen, a storytelling-recital with Alyssa Reit.

Included in this fee is an allowance of $15 on each student's flexible spending account to cover laundry and minor purchases on campus. Students will stay in supervised residential halls on the  UNCSA campus and enjoy the diverse selection of meals available in our dining hall, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meal options.

  • Registration deadline: May 1, 2019

  • Payment deadline: May 1, 2019, Payment in full due

Please do not wait to register. Registrations received after this program has filled will be placed on a 'waiting list' pending withdrawals.


  • $170 non-refundable deposit due at registration: check or credit card. Students who have not paid the deposit will be marked as wait-listed until the deposit is paid

  • Student withdrawal by May 1: refund of one-half of total paid, less non-refundable deposit

  • Student withdrawal after May 1: no refunds

This registration process and following forms MUST BE COMPLETED BY AN ADULT, and you will be required to certifiy you are over the age of 18.  You have reached this form through the student member account, but a parent or guardian MUST handle these steps if the student is under 18

After completing your regisration here, you will receive a confirmation email which contains a link to required UNCSA Parental Permission Form and Code of Conduct forms.  You MUST complete these forms by May 1, 2019 or your student will not be admitted to camp upon arrival.

In addition, you must download and have completed the UNCSA Health Form, and mail it to UNCSA by April 15, 2019,  It is very important, so leave plenty of time to have it completed.

Payment of the "Initial Registration Fee" is required with this application. You may defer paying the balance until any time prior to April 1, 2019. Or may chose to pay in full today.

TO PAY ONLY $170 TODAY: Select ONLY the "AHS 2019 Camp Innovation Registration"; do not check any other options. When you are ready to pay the balance, or apply a scholarship code received, log into your AHS Member365 portal. From the top menu, select My Events, and then the Summer Camp. Click the green MODIFY button, add the "On Campus Room & Board", and then "Continue" to payment.
